The Mystery of the Mysterious Pain that Hurts... Mysteriously

I had my ultrasound this morning. They looked at my liver, kidneys, and gall bladder. All fine. It may sound strange that I am incredibly disappointed. I just want to know what's wrong and get it fixed. More and more it's starting to seem like I am going to have to make a major life change as far as diet goes. But this "bland diet" stuff is really depressing. It gets to the point that you just think "why bother?" Nothing tastes like anything and so eating is no fun--purely mechanical. It stinks. I would kill to be able to go to Olive Garden.

*Unsolicited advice warning*

It is probably only one food that is really bothering you.

The most common food allergens are (in this order): milk, eggs, fish, wheat, tree nuts, peanuts, soybeans and crustaceans. Intolerance (which I have) is different. Milk, MSG, gluten and sulfates are reported difficult for some people, with milk by far #1 of these.

If you think it is related to your diet, you might try knocking all these off and then re-introducing them one at a time. Or, take out the top couple for two weeks, see how you feel, then move down the list. I bet you find it pretty fast. Some people like to start with a cleanse, which is to just flush everything out of your system, but if you're not eating now then there won't be much there anyhow.

Given your genetics, milk is very likely, BTW.

Whatever you start with read all labels and watch for hidden ingredients. For example with milk, Cheese, Lactose, Whey, and Casein are all bad. The important thing is to make *NO* exceptions for a while. Once you given your body a break from whatever is getting you, then it is time to start experimenting with small amounts, but not before.

After you find the problem, it won't be long before you learn which foods are trouble and it won't be much work after that.

I know it's not milk. I've eaten that several times in the last few days without any problem. Thanks for the advice (however unsolicited ;).

I don't know if this would be of any help to you, but Rite Aid is giving away an allergy guide during the month of May. Here was the blurb from our newspaper:

Free allergen guide
Rite Aid pharmacies have launched an education campaign to help allergy sufferers understand, minimize and manage reactions to allergens.
Through May, allergy sufferers can get a free allergy Guide on how to avoid and treat allergies and an allergy Awareness Home Handbook, a guide to living allergy-free at home, at any Rite Aid store. Rite Aid created the guides with the American Academy of allergy, Asthma & Immunology.
The guides discuss causes of allergies, testing, symptoms, prevention in children and products for alleviating various symptoms, among other things.
