I Am Such a Wuss

I gave up on the diet. I tried, I honestly, really did. However, I was feeling SO moody and like I was being a jerk all of the time, which I HATE. Also, I was just plain out miserable. I know, I know, I should probably have stuck with it, but the thought of this going on for weeks was more than I could stand. So, there you go. I am a complete wuss. Nice to have it out in the open.

Feel liberated. Cleansing diets are quackery anyway.

You did better than I would have, if that's any consolation.

As for Ryan's comments, I don't know about the "cleansing" aspect of the diet, except that if there are foods that are triggering your pain, going without any of them for a period of time to get them all out of your system and then gradually adding them back in to find out what's causing the problems makes sense to me. Hopefully you can figure that out with allergy/sensitivity tests.

I've never had a very high opinion of chiropractors. They never seem to know how to do much more than pop a back.

Having said that, I don't think you should totally give up on the diet. The vomit juice, you can probably go without, but developing a healthy diet could be helpful. It can be hard to eat healthfully, but you need to be persistent, even if you do mess up every once in a while. Changing from poor habits takes lots of time and isn't fun. But it does get better and by being persistent over time, it can make a real difference. Usually you won't notice the improvements until quite a bit of time has gone by. So eat healthy foods and keep your calorie intake around 1500 - 2000 calories.

I also think it would make a world of difference if you could exercise regularly. I realize that's difficult to do with such back pains, but do what you can, when you can. Just start going for 1/2 hour walks 3-6 times a week and be persistent, even if you don't reach the goal some weeks.

I'm not a doctor, but I play one on blogs sometimes. My assessment is a pinched nerve in your back.

Oh yeah, and don't call yourself a wuss.

Thanks. I am trying to eat better. But eating ONLY fruits and vegetables with no meat, no dairy, no seasoning, no NOTHING!?! No thanks. Actually, we are no pretty sure that what I have is inflamation from some currently unknown cause. I'm doing allergy and insulin testing tomorrow to try and figure out if it is possibly one of those things. And you're right. Diet and excercise are important. I do tend to do better when I am up and around, trying to do as much as I can, but it's hard, because I am also incredibly tired all of the time.
